"liberty enlightening the world" original painting
as the first born grandchild to an immigrant and a third generation Bolivian American, there are so many things flowing through my head. when i saw the photos of the LA protests i was blown away at this one image taken by the nytimes. the courage, the sheer bravery, the community support from above, the single palm tree, everything about this photo was seared into my mind.
this art aims to address the feelings, the desperations, the sadness, the pure grief, the bravery, the resilience, the pursuit for pure freedom for all. there is so much left to be said. so much that i know i must be leaving out.
